Towards Decarbonising Transport: Thailand 2024

A Stocktake on Sectoral Ambition

Preface

Thailand aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2030 or, with international support, by 40 percent. The transport sector plays an important role in achieving this goal, as the sector is responsible for around 30 percent of the country's total emissions. Existing policy measures aim to shift demand to public transport and rail, and to support electrification.

This factsheet analyses the current state of decarbonisation and climate ambition in Thailands transport sector.
