Dr. Ulf Neuling
Senior Associate, Fuels
Ulf Neuling joined Agora Verkehrswende in 2022, where he heads up work on renewable fuels. He is concerned with a range of topics, including the use of electricity-based fuels in air and sea transport, and the potential for the transport sector to rely on other energy carriers, such as hydrogen and biofuels.
From 2018 to 2022, Ulf was in charge of the Renewable Fuels Group at the Institute of Environmental Engineering and Energy Economics (IUE) at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). In this role, in addition to advising the Federal Ministry of Transport on the design of its Mobility and Fuel Strategy, he evaluated various production paths for renewable fuels, including hydrogen, biofuels, and electricity-based fuels. From 2014 to 2018, he was employed as a research assistant at IUE, where he completed his doctorate with a technical and economic analysis of various production processes for biokerosene.
Ulf Neuling has degrees in mechanical engineering (B.Sc.) and energy technology (M.Sc.) from TUHH.
